Everyone Else Can Eat What They Want And Not Gain Weight đĄ
Taking control of your life requires you to take radical responsibility for the reality youâre living in whether itâs fair or not.
âEveryone else can eat what they want and not gain weight!â
âLosing weight is so much harder for me than everyone else!â
âItâs so unfair!â
Youâre right, it is unfair! Everyone thinks they have it the hardest. We watch other people excel while we struggle and so the only obvious answer is that they have it easier than us. And maybe thatâs true! Maybe they have more time than you. Maybe their parents modeled better behavior. Maybe they grew up playing sports. Maybe she does have a faster metabolism.
The point of this blog is not to debate whether or not those things are true. So for argumentâs sake letâs just say they are. And in that case, youâre right! It is really fucking unfair. It sucks to feel like you have to work twice as hard as someone else for the same result. Hereâs me validating those feelings and giving you permission to be annoyed about that.
Ready for the tough love moment though?
It doesnât matter if itâs fair or not; itâs still reality. Itâs still your responsibility to navigate if you want to make a change. But why is it that we equate hard with being bad? Hard things arenât always bad! In fact doing hard things is an opportunity.
To prove to yourself that you can do hard things. To build confidence. And self-efficacy. And be really proud of yourself when you see it through.
Taking control of your life requires you to take radical responsibility for the reality youâre living in whether itâs fair or not. So yes, you can focus on the unfairness of it all and white knuckle your way through or just stop trying and decide itâs not worth it. Or you can accept that the game might be rigged and decide to play anyway.
