How Do I Target Belly Fat?

The hard truth is that the only way to target belly fat is to target body fat in general via a calorie deficit. When it comes to body composition, the biggest factor always has been and always will be your NUTRITION.

We’ve all asked this question whether we choose to admit it or not! I think most people now know that you can’t spot reduce fat but that doesn’t mean that we’re not asking the question and secretly hoping for an easier answer.

I wish I could give you the magic answer you’re looking for — if you do this specific exercise for 10 minutes per day you’ll say goodbye to your stubborn belly fat. But unfortunately I can’t do that because I care more about telling you the truth even if it’s not exactly what you want to hear.

Just like you can’t choose where your body tends to store fat, you can’t choose where your body loses fat. Yes you can do a bunch of ab exercises and that will work to strengthen your core and potentially give you more strength/size in your abdominal muscles, but that won’t guarantee that you lose the belly fat or see visible ab definition.

The hard truth is that the only way to target belly fat is to target body fat in general via a calorie deficit. When it comes to body composition, the biggest factor always has been and always will be your NUTRITION.

I know that’s not the answer anyone wants to hear because nutrition feels hard! But I promise it doesn’t have to be as hard or as daunting as you’re probably making it out to be. You don’t have to cut out all treats or sustain yourself on chicken and broccoli for the rest of time. There are ways to make substantial changes to your nutrition, and therefore your body composition, without being confused and miserable.

If you really want to target belly fat, it’s time to take a closer look at what’s actually going into your belly. And if you’re annoyed by that answer, confused about where to start, or discouraged because of your dieting history — it’s time you invest in yourself and finally learn how to nourish your body so that you look AND feel your best.
