What Should I Expect When I Hire A Nutrition Coach?

Hint: It’s not a meal plan

Starting a nutrition journey that truly fits your life takes time. Jumping straight into a plan on Day 1 wouldn’t work because I wouldn’t know you yet—your lifestyle, preferences, daily routine, or what challenges you face.

That’s why we begin with data collection: a 1-2 week food journal to understand how you actually eat, what habits you already have, and what obstacles pop up along the way. This lets me see what’s real for you—no quick-fix plans or “one-size-fits-all” advice here.

Alongside this, you’ll complete a Course of Change Tool using the science-backed WOOP method (Wish, Outcome, Obstacles, Planning). This exercise lets you clarify what you want to achieve, why it matters to you, and anticipate any roadblocks so we can set meaningful, sustainable goals.

Once we have all this info, we meet up, reflect on what we’ve learned, and decide together which habits make the most sense to build on first.

I’ll present you with tons of potential habits that can help you start taking steps towards your goals and you get to decide what feels best for you. For example if increasing protein intake is a goal, I’m not just gonna tell you to go eat some more chicken and figure it out.

We might talk about increasing current portion sizes, adding in a high protein snack between lunch and dinner, creating some high protein breakfast options, and dozens of other options! You get to see how many different ways there are to reach that goal and make an informed decision about what will help you be most successful.

So no, you won’t get a meal plan right away—and that’s the point. By understanding you first, we’ll make real progress that lasts 🧡
